Durstfinder runs on your iPhone. There are no user accounts, no advertising, and no analytics SDKs operated by us in the app. Preferences and your coaster (check-in) collection are stored locally on the device.

Optionally, the app uses device location (Core Location) to find bars and Spätis near you. Sharing location is voluntary. Without it you can pick a neighbourhood; distances are then measured from that area’s centre.

Coordinates are used to query Apple Maps (MapKit) and, when needed, public OpenStreetMap Overpass endpoints. We do not operate a Durstfinder backend that stores your location.

• Apple Maps / MapKit — place search, map display, walking routes, and optional open-in-Maps for navigation.
• OpenStreetMap / Overpass API — fallback POI data when Apple results are thin. Requests go to public Overpass servers (e.g. overpass-api.de) with an identifying User-Agent.

Those providers process data under their own privacy terms. We do not sell personal data or embed ad trackers.

Language, tone, mode (bar/Späti), filters, last-call preferences, and check-in stamps are stored in on-device storage (UserDefaults). Delete the app or clear app data to remove them.

If available, shaking the device can trigger a new suggestion. Sensor values are not stored.

“Remind before closing” is an in-app setting. This version does not send server-side push notifications.

Under the GDPR you may have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection. You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, e.g. the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit (https://www.datenschutz-berlin.de).
