Flipside is an offline-first card-deck app for iPhone. This policy explains what data the app processes, for what purpose, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / DSGVO).

Flipside is designed to keep your progress and preferences on your device. We do not operate a Flipside user account, and we do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

The following are stored locally on your device: language preference, whether you completed onboarding, daily-reminder settings, which decks you own or installed for free, reading progress, saved card identifiers, and days you opened cards (for the streak display).

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the contract / provision of the app you requested) and, where applicable, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in running a functional local app).

Optional paid decks are sold as non-consumable in-app purchases through Apple. Apple processes payment and purchase records as an independent controller for that purpose. BurmCorp receives only what Apple provides for transaction fulfilment (for example product identifiers and entitlement status via StoreKit), not your full payment card details.

You can restore purchases via the in-app control or your Apple ID. For Apple’s processing, see Apple’s privacy policy and your App Store account settings.

If you enable the daily reminder, Flipside schedules local notifications on your device at the time you choose. We do not operate a Flipside push server for this feature. Permission is requested only when you enable the reminder (or finish onboarding with reminders on).

Starter deck content is bundled with the app. If a content URL is configured, the app may download an updated content document (JSON) from our content delivery network so packs can be refreshed without an App Store update. Packs are merged by stable IDs; higher pack versions replace older ones.

That request involves technical connection data processed by network and CDN operators (for example IP address, request time, user agent). We do not use this to build personal profiles of your reading behaviour. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and/or (f) GDPR (providing current content; secure delivery of the service).

Flipside does not include third-party advertising SDKs, marketing trackers, or social media plugins. We do not build advertising profiles from your decks or progress.

Local data remains on your device until you change it in the app or remove the app. Uninstalling Flipside removes the app’s local data subject to Apple’s normal backup and restore behaviour. Purchase entitlements remain associated with your Apple ID as managed by Apple.

Under the GDPR you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights regarding data we hold (for example support emails), contact legal@burmcorp.com.

Data that exists only on your device is under your control: clear progress or saves in the app where available, or delete the app. We cannot remotely access or delete your on-device Flipside data.
