Three tasks a day. One in front of you.
I once saw a Kevin O’Leary interview about three tasks a day — not thirty, three. After that I started keeping very short to-do lists on purpose.
The lists got better. The apps didn’t. Everything still felt overwhelming: infinite backlogs, guilt piles, noise. So I built Next — a quieter tool for the way I was already trying to work.
One task fills the screen. Hold to complete, then the next. A short daily focus set (three by default), on your device only — iPhone, widgets, Apple Watch. No account, no cloud, no feed.
How the day is meant to go
Three (or so) that matter
The default is a three-task day — short enough to finish, serious enough to count. Change the number in Settings if your day needs a different size.
One at a time
Now is deliberately single-minded. Hold to complete, then the next moves up. Optional: show the whole focus set on one screen.
A real queue, not a graveyard
Drag to reorder, swipe to delete, edit in place. Put something first, next, or last. Clear the small list instead of feeding a forever backlog.
Widgets & Watch
Home Screen Now and Left-to-do widgets, plus an Apple Watch companion — same queue, still on your hardware.
Local by design
No account, no analytics feed, no Next cloud. Optional reminders are local notifications with a real time on the task.
